受艺术家刘懿所托为某山庄做的建筑设计。基地位于山区，梯田地形。原甲方打算做山庄经营，最初设想只是简单做几栋平房了事，后为经营考虑觉得还是做些设计。

基地是位于山脚下的一块梯田。阶梯状地块形成许多山崖，自然景观非常漂亮。保留了许多大型树木，甚至有树龄近百年的果树。由于本身基地自然景观十分丰富，所以做建筑时尽量不去破坏原始生态，将建筑隐没于原始生态景观之中，也没有人为增加什么景观。最初说是以一栋艺术家工作室为主体，周围辅以客房等配套建筑。经过与刘懿的多次讨论，客房增加至37栋。工作室并不是那么明显了，而是与会议中心共用一座建筑。
